Exhibition of Ka’aba Historic Remains from Haram Makka

The exhibition building is located close to the Kiswa factory (Ka’aba cover) on Old Makkah – Jeddah roadThe purpose is to protect the important remains from the two holy mosques. It has 7 exhibition halls which contain several remains as well as old/new photographs.

This is the reception where the pilgrims are explained about the building of the holy mosques and the extensions/renovati ons it witnessed.

Masjidul-Haram Exhibition hall that contains historical remains of which is this Staircase to Ka’ba which is from the year 1240 Hijri

This is the old covering for Maqame-Ibrahim until it was replaced during the time of Late King Fahad bin Abdulaziz

These are the crests from minarets of Haram from 1299 Hijri

This is the plinth of Ka’ba made from wood, covered with gold plates and filled with lead from inside – it dates back to 1273 Hijri

This is the pillar of Ka’ba (as shown in the picture in the left) which dates back to the construction by Abdullah Bin Al-Zubair (r.a.) and dates back to 65 Hijri

This is the lock and key of Ka’ba from the time of
Ottoman Sultan Abdulhameed (the IInd)

This is the door of Ka’ba which was erected during the time of
Ottoman Sultan Murad Khan (the IVth) dating back to 1045 Hijri and it is made from wood, covered with silver and plated with gold.

The above door was replaced by the following door during the time of King Abdulaziz in the year 1363 Hijri

These are the casings of Hajre-Aswad one of which is from the time of Sultan Murad Khan and other one from the Saudi times

In the photographic exhibition there are photographs from the 12th Century Hijri.

And among the collection of Quran copies

Masjid-un-Nabawi exhibition – where there is a gate dismantled during Saudi expansion in 1337 Hijri

Crescent from Main Minaret from the beginning of 4th century Hijri

An old clock installed by Ottoman Sultan Abdulhameed (the 1^st) from 1277 Hijri

In the Zamzam exhibition there is a steel cage and bucket for withdrawing water that was dismantled towards the end of 14th century Hijri

And here is a water pot from 1299 Hijri….

SHIA SUNNI UNITY: SHIA SUNNI DIFFERENCES, SHIA SUNNI CONFLICT

he centuries old Shia Sunni differences are the major obstacle to Muslim unity (Shia Sunni unity). The enemies of Islam to their benefit have always fanned these differences. Unfortunately, some so-called Muslim scholars on their payroll have also played a key role in keeping these differences alive.
Although I was born into a Sayyid Sunni family, I did not know of many differences while growing up as a child. Our families always respected Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) and his parents and participated in ceremonies marking the anniversary of his martyrdom (the 10th day of the month of Muharram which is called Ashura) by reciting the first chapter of the Holy Qur'an (al-Fatihah) and other chapters and verses of the Holy Quran and fasted on the ninth and tenth days of that month.
Now when I give lectures on Islam to non-Muslims, one of the questions they always ask me is if I am Shia or Sunni. I ask them if they know the difference. They have no knowledge, other than what has been given to them by the media. So they say Shias are the ones who are the bad guys, the militant version of Islam, and cause all the trouble in the Middle East these days.
These non-Muslim American audiences of mine are surprised to learn that some of the known tyrants like Saddam Hussain and troublemakers like the PLO and Hamas are all Sunni's, just as they are surprised to learn that Tariq Aziz (Former Iraq's Foreign Minister) was Christian and not a Muslim.
This is what I say to them about Shiite. "If Ali ibn Abu Talib (cousin of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)) was a Shia, then I am a Shia. If he was a Sunni, then I am a Sunni [i.e., a follower of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)]." In Islam there are five recognized schools of Divine Law: 1) Hanafi; 2) Shafi; 3) Maliki; 4) Hambali and 5) Jafari.
The first four are called Sunni, and the fifth one, who in addition to following sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), also follows those of Ali ibn Abu Talib and consider him as the rightful successor of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), are called Shia. The first four have many major theological differences among themselves and according to a Christian friend of mine, "The only time Sunni's are united is when they are fighting Shias." Shiism started as a political movement (Shia means follower or partisan) to help Ali ibn Abu Talib become successor of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Around every successful popular figure, there are some admirers whose own future interests rest with the rise of their leader. Thus in Indiana, we have "Friends of Lugar Club", who are hoping that some day Senator Richard Lugar will become a US President. Nationally, we now have a "Hillary Rodham Clinton Fan Club" with 4,000 members! Thus, there were the Followers of Ali ibn Abu Talib Club, which later on became a political movement. During the initial battles with unbelievers, Ali ibn Abu Talib, the Sword of Islam, was in the forefront and defeated and killed many of their leaders whose children and grandchildren, even when they became Muslims, always remembered who killed their father (animosity).
Ali ibn Abu Talib was raised by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as a child so he knew Islam very well. Thus, when Ali ibn Abu Talib became a judge, his judgments were based on strict Islamic principles, much to the disappointment of many who expected him to be lenient to the rich and powerful. Ali ibn Abu Talib was so well respected and trusted by both Caliph Abu Bakr and Umar, that in difficult cases they asked his opinion.
Nevertheless, I tell my non-Muslim audience that both Shia and Sunni have many things in common. They both believe in One God (Allah), follow the same Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as the last Prophet, offer five daily prescribed prayers, perform the prescribed fast in the month of Ramadan, go to Makkah for the Hajj pilgrimage, read the same book of Allah, Holy Qur'an, and pay the poor-due (Zakat).
However, my answers can only satisfy my uninformed non-Muslim audience. The Sunni brothers, misguided by western propaganda, who are ready to embrace non-Muslims (especially the white ones), in the pretext of invitation to Islam, will not do so for Shia. They are ignorant Sunni's. Our job as a missionary should be to invite both groups to the true Islam and not chase them out. There is a movement in the Sunni world to have Shias labeled as disbelievers. I have been told that Shaykh Bin Baz of Saudi Arabia has declared an edict that the meat of the People of Book (Jews and Christians) is permissible for Sunni Muslims to eat but not the meat slaughtered by Shias.
There are scholars on both sides, like Imam Khomeini and Shaykh Shaltut of al-Azhar who have done their best to minimize these differences and bring unity, but it is not working due to the misinformation prevailing in the common masses of Sunnis about Shiism. Thus I am listing their misconceptions of Shia belief and practices. For answers, I have consulted two Shia scholars in America. Dr. A. S. Hashim of Washington and Imam Muhammad Ali Elahi of Detroit.
Professor Seyyed Hossein Nasr wrote to me "to ignore and not waste time in responding to such wrong allegations." He also mentioned that "a great deal of money and effort is being spent in the last few years to fan the fire of hatred between Shia and Sunni in the Persian Gulf region with obvious political and economical fruits for powers to-be." However, in the interest of Islamic unity, I must deal with the questions rather than shun them. Please note that Imam Jafar as Sadiq (peace be upon him), founder of the Shia school of law, was the teacher of Imam Abu-Hanifa (peace be upon him).

Misconception #1: Shias have a different Holy Qur'an. They add another 10 chapters to the original Holy Qur'an.

Response: Not true. I have checked many times Holy Qur'an kept in Shia homes and mosques. I still find it the same as the original Holy Qur'an. More recently, I took care of an Iranian lady patient hospitalized here. I saw a copy of the Holy Qur'an by her side. I borrowed it from her and browsed through cover-to-cover. In Arabic it was the same as our Holy Qur'an. Of course, since I did not know the Persian language, I can't say much about the translation. It is a sin to even say that the Holy Qur'an can be changed or added to by Shia when Almighty God protects it.

Misconception #2: Some Shia considers Ali ibn Abu Talib as God.

Response: Not true. It is disbelief to even think of such a thing. During the time of Ali ibn Abu Talib, some pagan groups called Gholat did consider Ali ibn Abu Talib as Lord. When he found out, they were burned to death.

Misconception #3: Shias have different declarations of faith and they add to the call to prescribed prayer.

Response: The declaration to become a Muslim, as administered to non-Muslims, is the same. Some Shia add to themselves, "Ali ibn Abu Talib is a friend of God or Ali ibn Abu Talib is a spiritual leader of God," after the call to prescribed prayer, but not as part of the call to prescribed prayer.

Misconception #4: Shias do not perform Sunnah prayers. Sunnah prayers are non-obligatory prayers performed by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Response: Shias do perform non-obligatory prayers, 36 cycles per day in total, but call it Nawafil and not Sunnah.

Misconception #5: Some Shia believes the Angel Gabriel made a mistake and prophet hood was meant for Ali ibn Abu Talib and not Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Response: Not true. No Shia thinks of such false claims. "Only demented minds think of such questions."

Misconception #6: Shias slander and ridicule the first three caliphs (Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman) and Prophet Muhammad's wife, Ayesha.

Response: Shia considers the first three caliphs as companions and administrators, but not spiritual leaders (Imams). Imam Jafar as Sadiq (peace be upon him), whose mother and grandmother came from the line of Abu Bakr, said of Abu Bakr, "He gave me birth twice." Ayesha is respected by Shias as the "Mother of Believers," as Ali ibn Abu Talib respected her when he sent her back from Basra to Madinah after the Battle of the Camel. If some Shia do slander the three caliphs and Ayesha, they do it out of ignorance and should ask God's forgiveness. (As we have witnessed how Imam Khomeini, The Shia bravely declared death of Salman Rushdie - The author of Satanic Verses who abused the wife of Prophet Ayesha and Shia Leader declared blasphemy, just for his Fatwa the whole western countries became against Iran. See how much price did Shia pay to defend Ayesha - while Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE etc. etc. as the Sunni government were silent they did not defend Ayesha. Now who loves Ayesha?)

Misconception # 7: Shias combine all five prayers into one prayer in the evening.

Response: Not true. In Shia mosques, whether in Iran or the USA, all five daily prayers are performed. Shia do combine noon and afternoon and evening and night, but Shia scholars recommend performing them separately. Such combinations may not be ideal, but better than not praying at all. How can a Sunni who does not pray at all be better than a Shia who combines prayers?

Misconception # 8: Shias do not pay zakat (poor-due).

Response: Not true. They not only pay 2.5% left over from savings as zakat, but also an additional 20% as Khums or general charity. However, they prefer to pay directly to the needy rather than corrupt Sunni government.

Misconception #9: Shias practice temporary marriages (Mutah).

Response: Temporary marriages (Mutah) was allowed during the time of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and he himself practiced it. Ibn Zubayr was born out of the temporary marriage. Later on Caliph Umar prohibited it due to social reasons as the Islamic world was rapidly expanding. Shias discourage Mutah but do not consider it prohibited. Some do abuse this. As a temporary privilege during travel, it is better than adultery.

Misconception #10: They consider Imams infallible and above the Prophets.

Response: Not true. All prophets are born Prophet but as mentioned in the Holy Qur'an about Abraham that after passing the test, a prophet becomes a leader (Imam). Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is the Prophet (Nabi), Messenger (Rasul) and leader (Imam). Imams are carriers of the message of Islam. Shias consider Ali ibn Abu Talib only as an Imam and not prophet. With the little knowledge I have, I tried to do my best as a Sunni in defending my Shia brothers in Islam with the hope and prayer to God Almighty that He will "instill love in the heart of the believers" and bring us closer to each other so that we jointly can fight our common enemy, Satan and his followers.
May God forgive my mistakes in this article and this book (Amin).

Why combine Namaze Zohr-Asr and Maghrib-Isha?

Some people ask why shia pray Namaze Zohr and Namaze Asr together, Namaze Maghrib and Namaze Isha together, while majority of Muslims are praying these Namazes separately and the name of every Namaz is different?
To reply to this question, we should put forward our principles in all our religious matters that we are following what exactly the Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W.) was doing. In our Namaz, how to pray Namaz, the timings of Namaz, and preparation for Namaz e.g. Wazu etc. and all things concerned with Namaz, we take it from the Prophet (S.A.W.) through the most authentic source which is Ahlul Bayt (A.S.) Not only Namaz but also all other Ahkaam (Rules). Every Hokm (Rule) in the Sharish we take from the Quran and from the Prophet (S.A.W).
Obviously, all Muslim sects inspite of their differences, are claiming to be following Quran and Sunnat. But simply claiming without sufficient evidences does not prove any fact. We have full and complete proofs that the Sunnat which we follow is the real and original and pure Sunnat, being conveyed to us by the topmost authentic personalities i.e., Ahlul Bayt (A.S.) who lived with the Prophet and knew each and everything about his sayings and his deeds.
The interpretation and understanding of Quran depends also on Hadeeths. Only authentic Hadeeth can be considered in this regard i.e., Real and pure Sunnat is the only way, to understand Quran. As a result, we clearly observe that real and pure Sunnat, which we got through Ahlul Bayt (A.S.), is the only way to follow Quran and the Prophet (S.A.W.).

Mut’ah or Nikahul Munqata’i is a form of marriage in Al-Islam, with definite conditions for its validity. It is however, a matter of controversy between the Sunni who accept it as a marriage but consider the practice unlawful, and the Shi’a who consider it lawful marriage in Al-Islam to the Day of Judgment.

In this brief article, we will examine the meaning of Islamic Shari’ah, the sources of the Shari’ah (Islamic laws) and the status of Mut’ah in the Shari’ah. We hope to show that Mut’ah which was valid in the time of Prophet Muhammad SAWW remains valid till the end of time, despite arbitrary ban by Umar Al-Khattab¹
The Arabic term Shari’ah lexically means “a path, a way” and its terminological sense is “Islamic legislative system.” Human life on this planet is transitory. The permanent abode for the righteous is Al-Jannah (Paradise). Thus, Shari'ah is the prescribed way to get to Al-Jannah. The scope of Shari’ah is vast and it is usually divided into Takwini (natural laws) and Taklifi (divinely prescribed obligatory laws). Mut’ah falls under the latter which will be our focus of attention. Islamic Shari’ah wasbrought by Prophet Muhammad SAWW, just as previous Shari’ah were brought by Prophet² Nuh AS (Noah), Prophet Ibrahim AS (Abraham), Prophet Musa (Moses) AS and Prophet Isa (Jesus) AS. Islamic laws, therefore, are immutable divine injunctions.
Islamic Laws are divided into ibadaat (acts of worship) and muamilaat (affairs between people, transactions) ³. We are concerned with the latter in this article.
In Al-Islam, man-woman relations are either through permanent marriage (nikah al-daaim) or temporary marriage (Mut’ah), since the third way, milkil yamin, no longer obtains. Both these are valid forms of marriage in and they share common conditions.
Mut’ah has been allowed in The Qur’an^4.The Qur’an is the first source of law for both the Shi’a and the Sunni.In the sura (Qur’anic chapter) entitled ‘Women’, after listing women to whom marriage is forbidden, The Qur’an states: ‘Lawfulfor you is what is beyond all that, that you may seek, using your wealth, in wedlock and not in license. So those of them, whom you benefit from (famastamta’tum), give them their appointed dues; it is no fault in you in agreeing together, after the due apportionate. God is All-Knowing All-Wise.” The term ‘istimta’, in the usage of the time of revelation, alludes to the already-existing practice of temporary marriage in Madinah. Thus, this verse distinguishes between permanent marriage and temporary marriage and accords the latter divine sanction. Verses related to permanent marriage ⁵ had already been revealed previously In Makkah. Since in the Qur’anic tradition, only later verses can abrogate the earlier ones, ipso facto, verse 4:24 was never abrogated by a similar or a better order from Allah SWT.
Did The Prophet SAWW abrogate the verse that Allah SWT Himself left intact? Impossible! The Prophet SAWW was the recipient of the revelation and with all honesty and truthfulness, he conveyed the exact wordings. So, there is no question that he ever abrogated it for it was not his message, but Allah SWT’s. So, there can be no argument on this score, i.e. the second source of Islamic law, the Sunnah of The Prophet SAWW.⁶
Yet, ahadith have been cited by Sunni scholars to show that The Prophet SAWW allowed and forbade the practice back and forth seven times! An absurdity, considering that The Prophet SAWW, in The Qur’an, is described as “He speaks not of his volition, except that he receives divine revelation”.⁷ Besides, some of the narrators of the ahadith of prohibition have been discredited as liars. Not only that, butahadith in Sahih Bukhari and Muslim⁸ have shown that Mut’ah continued to be practiced until the second half of Umar Al-Khattab’s reign when he imposed an arbitrary ban on three practices allowed in The Prophet SAWW’s time. In fact, Umar stated in so many words that Mut’atan (two Mut’ah (one of Hajj and the other of marriage) and the proclamation of “Hayya Alaa Khayril Amal” in the Adhaan (call to prayer) were allowed in the time of The Prophet SAWW and that he banned them and would severely punish the violators of his order. To this Imam Ali ibni Abi Talib AS, who is falsely quoted as reporting prohibition of Mut’ah, said” Had Umar not banned Mut’ah, only the wretched would have committed fornication.” Indeed, Umar’s own son, Abdullah Ibn Umar, dismissed the credibility of Umar to declare Mut’ah unlawful! The daughter of caliph Abu Bakr, Asma binti Abu Bakr entered into Mut’ah marriage. Why did Abu Bakr not stop her?
The Sunni Imam Malik⁹ considers Mut’ah a valid Islamic marriage. In “Mecca, in modern as well as ancient times, temporary marriages were conducted among the Sunnis but nothing is said of this in marriage contract, otherwise it would make it invalid…” ¹⁰ So, the practice itself is lawful, only the mechanics of the contract unlawful in Hanbali law that most of the Makkans adhere to. In Shafi’ law, temporary marriage is valid when it is concluded with the unuttered resolution (niya) to observe it only for the period of stay in a place for a few days only, so long as this was not expressly stipulated in the contract.”¹¹ In Hanafi law, expenditure on an adulteress is halaal and there is no jurisprudential limit on one who rewards such a woman.¹²
In Morocco, a predominantly Sunni country, Mut’ah marriage is widely practiced. Young men and women enter into Mut’ah marriage in great numbers, and it is said that many Saudi men (mostly followers of Hanbali sect), go to Morocco for Mut’ah marriages. A Moroccan woman is recognized as having entered Mut’ah marriage by the heavy gold jewelry she sports given to her by her Saudi husband.¹³ These days Saudi men enter into “Mesyar” or marriages of convenience because, as one young man put it: …”proper marriage is such a big step, and I just can’t handle the responsibility at the moment.” ¹⁴ Another Saudi young man said: “The traditional marriage is very expensive these days. But I don’t have much money at the moment, so for the time being a Mesyar marriage is the only thing for me.”¹⁵ Shakespeare said: What is in a name? A rose by any name is as sweet. So, Mut’ah by any name is just as desirable by the very people who consider it unlawful!
Moreover, narrating on the authority of Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (one of the reliable narrators of The Prophet SAWW’s ahadith), Bukhari says that when The Prophet SAWW permitted Mut’ah, he recited:
“O those who believe, do not make unlawful the good things that Allah has made lawful for you, and do not transgress. Allah does not like transgressors.”¹⁶How then could The Prophet SAWW abrogate “a good thing”?
Another objection being raised against Mut’ah is that it is not a marriage. So, if it is not lawful then it would seem Allah SWT has in 4:24, permitted, “Naudhubillahi min dhalik” ¹⁷ enjoyment with a woman by paying her dues. In other words, the detractors of Mut’ah are imputing Allah SWT! Irth (inheritance) is an objection to Mut’ah i.e. since there is no inheritance in Mut’ah marriage should a spouse die during the period of Mut’ah, it is not considered a valid marriage. Yet, in permanent marriage, a spouse who murders the other spouse or a spouse who renounces Al-Islam or a widow who did not consummate the marriage does not get any inheritance. So, inheritance is not a condition for the validity of marriage. Iddah (waiting period) is another objection raised against Mut’ah. There is a waiting period of two menstrual cycles or 45 days¹⁸ for the woman after Mut’ah ends and, if she is with a child, she has to wait out the whole pregnancy. Talaq (divorce) is yet another argument to reject Mut’ah’s validity as a marriage. Again, a permanent marriage can be dissolved without the pronouncement of the sigha (formula of talaq) if the wife is subjected to (la’an) sworn allegation, or if the spouse renounces Al-Islam etc. In Mut’ah, the fixed period mutually agreed upon constitutes its consummation, whereas in permanent marriage conjugal union is its consummation. Nafaq (maintenance) is also cited as an issue in the validity of marriage. Yet, when in permanent marriage a woman who becomes nashiza (recalcitrant) and stays away from the husband, is not entitled to maintenance. This does not invalidate the marriage. In Mut’ah maintenance is negotiated in the contract just as inheritance and conjugal union is. So, where these stipulations obtain in the mutually agreed upon contract of Mut’ah, where is the caveat?
Thus Mut’ah, because of its temporary nature, requires that the man and the woman consent to the specific time-period and dower and that upon expiry of the agreed time-frame, the relationship is automatically dissolved sans the need to pronounce the formula. Thus, both types of marriage are similar and different in some aspects. Merely being different in form and substance does not make Mut’ah any less a marriage, especially when the formula of the contract is the same as that of permanent marriage: Ankahtu or Zawwajtu Matta’tu nafsi…..¹⁹ uttered by the bride or her representative and Qabiltu²⁰ by the groom or his representative.
Zinaa (fornication or adultery) which, Imam Abu Hanifa of the Sunni School of law seems to validate is a major sin in Al-Islam. When a man or a woman has no means to settle down in a permanent marriage, what other recourse do they have? Sublimation of the natural urges for some, but for the majority this is difficult. So, either it is fornication, adultery, onanism or emasculation all of which are haraam (forbidden) in Al-Islam or Mut’ah (or Mesyar) which The Almighty SWT in His Mercy has made lawful is the options available. Mut’ah is a choice between Umar Al-Khattab’s ban and Allah SWT’s sanction. The Shi’a opt for Allah SWT’s Merciful provision of Mut’ah.

Merits of reciting a Surah from the Holy Qura:
This Surah is the core of the wajib prayers of every Muslim. Its recitation is equal to the whole Qur’an. This Surah has the healing power of all sickness except death. Recite Surah Al Fatihah before beginning any important task in life.

Chapter 2: Surah Al Baqarah
If you recite the four Ayaat of this Surah followed by Ayatul Kursi and then the three Ayaat of this Surah, you won’t have any sort of difficulty concerning your health, wealth and family members. Also you’ll not forget the Holy Qura’n and Shaitan will stay away from you.

Chapter 3: Surah Aale Imran
Recite this Surah on Friday and let Allah (SWT) shower his blessings till sunset and the angels will pray for the forgiveness of the reciter.
If written with saffron and hung in the neck of a woman with the intention of pregnancy then with Allah (SWT)’s command, the woman would be pregnant.

Chapter 4: Surah An Nisa
Recite this Surah every Friday and relieve yourself from the squeezing of the grave.

Chapter 5: Surah Al Maidah
The reciter of this Surah will get good deeds added to his account equal to the number of Jews and Christians. His bad deeds will be erased and his position in Allah (SWT)’s eyes will be high.

Chapter 6: Surah Al An’am
If you recite this Surah on a regular basis, angels will ask for forgiveness till the Day of Judgement. Write this Surah with saffron, soak and drink its water for 6 days, lots of good things will come to you, problems and ailments will stay away and you’ll keep healthy. There is great reward in reciting this Surah because Allah (SWT)’s name is mentioned 70 times.

Chapter 7: Surah Al Ar’af
Recite this Surah at least once a month; you’ll be safe from grief and sorrow on the Day of Judgement. Recite it on Friday; you’ll be with people whose account won’t be taken. Write it with rose water and saffron, drink it and keep safe from enemies and dangerous animals.

Chapter 8: Surah Al Anfal
If you write this Surah and keep it with you, it’ll enable you to get your rights from your superior.

Chapter 9: Surah At Tawbah
Recitation of this Surah keeps away from enemies, thieves and fire.

Chapter 10: Surah Yunus
If there has been a misunderstanding in your family and you want to know who is at fault, write this Surah together with the name of all family members, and the problem will be solved.

Chapter 11: Surah Hud
If you recite this Surah on Friday, you will be with the Prophet (SAWW) on the Day of Judgement. All your sins will be forgiven and you will get the position of a martyr.

Chapter 12: Surah Yusuf
The reciter of this Surah will be safe from envy. Pangs of death will be made easy. If you write this Surah and drink its water, you’ll have good luck and sustenance.

Chapter 13: Surah Ar Ra’ad
Recitation of this Surah increases sustenance and makes you triumphant against enemies. Even thunder declares the Glory of Allah (SWT).

Chapter 14: Surah Ibrahim
Pray 2 rakaat every Friday (in 1st rakaa, Surah Ibrahim and 2nd rakaa Surah Al Hijr) after Surah al Fatihah, to be safe from sudden calamity and poverty.

Chapter 15: Surah Hijr
To prosper in business, tie this Surah on your hand or keep it in your pocket.

Chapter 16: Surah An Nahl
Recite every month to be safe from debts and calamities.

Chapter 17: Surah Bani Israel
If you recite this Surah on every Thursday night, you will see the 12th Imam before you die. If a child is stammering, or does not have clear speech, write this Surah, soak in water and let him drink, he will be able to talk clearly.

Chapter 18: Surah Al Kahf
To wake up from sleep at a certain time, recite the last ayah of this Surah. If you recite this Surah every Thursday night, you’ll die the death of a martyr. If you write this Surah in a bottle with narrow neck, you will be safe from debt, poverty and other problems. If you recite the last ayah of this Surah before sleeping, a light will appear and it will go till the Holy Qa’aba and the angels will pray for you. If the person is in Mecca, the light will go to Al bayt ul Ma’mun and angels will pray for him.

Chapter 19: Surah Maryam
If you keep this Surah with you, you’ll have good dreams. If this Surah is hung on the wall, you will be protected from thieves and frightened people will become calm.

Chapter 20: Surah Taha
By reciting this Surah regularly, your book of accounts will be given to you in your right hand on the Day of Judgement. If a man writes this Surah on a green silk cloth and goes to a family where he intends to get married, he will not be refused. When a girl wants to get married she must bathe with the water that this Surah was soaked in. If anyone wishes to get married, he should write ayah 131-132 and tie on his hand.

Chapter 21: Surah Al Anbiya
When one cannot sleep owing to fear and worry, the person should tie his Surah to ones waist.

Chapter 22: Surah Al Hajj
The reciter of this Surah will get rewards of all previous and future pilgrims. If one recites this Surah on every third day, he will go for Hajj in the same year and if he dies while going he will go straight to heaven.

Chapter 23: Surah Al Mu’minoon
To stop someone from drinking alcohol, write this Surah on a white cloth and tie it to your neck. Recite this Surah regularly and be happy at the time of dying.

Chapter 24: Surah An Nur
Recite this Surah day and night and none of your family member will be in trouble. Also 70,000 angels will follow the funeral and pray for your forgiveness.

Chapter 25: Surah Al Furqan
The reciter of this Surah will enter Paradise on the Day of Judgement without accounting for anything, on one condition that he must have faith. Keep this Surah on you to ward off dangerous pests.

Chapter 26: Surah Ash Shu’ara
Every illness can be cured if this Surah is soaked and the water drunk.
You’ll be protected from drowning/burning and be safe form wrongful death.
Recite this Surah and reap the reward tenfold as many mu’minoon and mu’minaat.

Chapter 27: Surah An Naml
The reward of this Surah is to stand on the day of Judgement reciting Shahadatain.

Chapter 28: Surah Al Qasas
This Surah when soaked in rainwater and drunk may cure stomach and liver pains.
Soak the Surah in water, drink and help dispel all your doubts and misgivings, sorrows and grief.

Chapter 29: Surah Al Ankabut
Relieve malaria, cold, heaviness of chest by drinking the water this Surah has been soaked in. Recite this Surah and sleep like a baby.

Chapter 30: Surah Ar Rum
As many angels there are between the heavens and earth, the reciter of this Surah will be rewarded ten times as many good deeds.

Chapter 31: Surah Luqman
Soak the Surah in water to alleviate all types of diseases as well as relief from severe stomach problems.

Chapter 32: Surah As Sajda
Write this Surah on deerskin and receive tons of proposals. Keep the Surah on you and be safe from fevers, headaches and pain of joints. Recite this at night and Allah (SWT) would give the records of deeds in the right hand.

Chapter 33: Surah Al Ahzab
Write on deerskin and keep it in a casket at home, all good marriage proposals will be brought. If you teach this Surah to all at home, the pangs of the grave will be kept against you. Good deeds will be written for you and you’ll be close to the Ahlulbayt on the Day of Qiyamah.

Chapter 34: Surah As Sabaa
Reciter of this Surah and Surah Fatir will stay in peace at night. and if recited at daytime, no unpleasant incident will occur. You will get good in the world and the hereafter. Write this Surah, tie it on you, and be protected form dangerous animals.

Chapter 35: Surah Al Fatir
Recite ayah 42 of this Surah and your headache will be cured.

Chapter 36: Surah Yaseen
Recite Surah Yaseen and your sins are forgiven. Recite regularly and the rewards are equal to completing the Holy Quran twelve times. If you recite this Surah for a sick person, angels will pray for his forgiveness and at time of death they will also attend his funeral. Written with rosewater and Saffron and drunk for 7 days, one’s memory would be that he would memorise what he listens. If in dispute one would win. Produces much milk for a weaning mother.

Chapter 37: Surah As Saffat
Protect yourself from misfortunes and calamities by reciting this Surah every Friday. Be blessed with health, wealth and children. Allah (SWT) will keep him safe from evils of shaitan and he will die the death of a martyr. If read over a dying person, he will pass away peacefully and easily.

Chapter 38: Surah Saad
Recite regularly; you will be saved from committing big and small sins.

Chapter 39: Surah Az Zumar
Allah (SWT) bestows great honours and onlookers will respect you, if you recite this Surah. Keep the Surah on you and everyone will praise you. Also the fire of hell will not touch you. Increases love between Husband and Wife.

Chapter 40: Surah Al Mu’min
Purification of the heart. Past and future sins are forgiven. Kept at the place of work, it brings prosperity. If one has white/black spots/pimples/boils, keep this Surah on you to get cured. Soak it, use the water to make dough, dry and grind, take a pinch to cure liver, spleen, heart, trembling problems and unconsciousness.

Chapter 41: Surah Hamim Sajda
Write in a utensil, wash with water and knead flour with that water, make balls, dry it and grind it. Give it to a person who has pain in heart, pain would be removed.
N.B. Following are merits of All Suwar starting with "Ha Mim":

i) Whoever recites in Namaz E Shab you’ll have liberty to enter the garden of heaven.

ii) Souls of Prophets, believers and pious ones will send salawaat and pray for forgiveness of the reciter of this Surah.

iii) Reciter of this Surah, his mouth will have a pleasant scent and Allah (SWT) showers his blessings on him and neighbours.

Chapter 42: Surah Ash Shu’ra
On the day of Judgement there will be light on your face. Soak it and use the water to make a dough, dry and grind it, having a pinch of it daily cures eye diseases. Drink water during a journey to safeguard from troubles.

Chapter 43: Surah Az Zukhruf
The reciter is saved from the squeezing of the grave. Water soaked with this Surah is good for disease and epilepsy.

Chapter 44: Surah Ad Dukhan
The water in which this Surah has been soaked will cure constipation and stomach ails. Save your self from shaitan and get good dreams by keeping it under your pillow. If you recite on Thursday night, sins will be forgiven and 70,000 angels will ask for forgiveness till the next day. Recite this Surah on Thursday night and Friday morning, Allah (SWT) will build a house in Jannah. If a patient of Migraine drinks water of Surah Ad Dukhan he would instantly be cured.

Chapter 45: Surah Al Jathiya
The reciter of this Surah will not enter hell. Keep this Surah on yourself and remain safe from backbiters, also no one will talk bad about you. If it is hung around a newborn child, it will keep him safe.

Chapter 46: Surah Al Ahkaf
Rid the habit of forgetfulness by reciting this Surah. Soak it in Zam Zam water and drink the water, people will love and listen to you.

Chapter 47: Surah Muhammad
The reciter of this Surah will not have doubts on his religion and will be free from kufr and shirk. He will also be free from problems and diseases. After his death, 1000 angels will recite salawaat for him.

Chapter 48: Surah Al Fath
Forget forgetfulness by reciting this Surah. Surah soaked in Zam Zam water cures trembling during old age. Your children and family will be safe traveling

Chapter 49: Surah Al Hajarat
Cancel misunderstandings by reciting this Surah. A breast-feeding mother will get more milk if she keeps this Surah on her.

Chapter 50: Surah Qaaf
By reciting this Surah the pangs of death will be easier. Epilepsy will disappear. Sustenance will be increased and a breast-feeding mother will get more milk. Drink it’s water and you will not get stomach ails. For any eye problem, read ayah 23, blow water and wash your face with it.

Chapter 51: Surah Adh Dhariyat
Recite this Surah to make things easier, like pangs of death, deliveries, and e.t.c

Chapter 52: Surah At Tur
A prisoner will be let free if he recites this Surah regularly. A scorpion bite will heal if the water soaked with the Surah is sprinkled over it.

Chapter 53: Surah An Najm
If you recite this Surah regularly, you will have a peaceful life, people will love, respect and honour you.

Chapter 54: Surah Al Qamar
On the Day of Judgement, the face of the reciter of this Surah will shine. If you write this Surah on a Friday and keep it with you in your amama (cap), you will be honoured wherever you go.

Chapter 55: Surah Ar Rahman
The reciter of this Surah will die a martyr and enter paradise. If you recite this Surah on Friday morning, you will get great reward. Keep it on you at all times to make your work easy. Eyes will be cured. Hang it on the wall to ward of all insects

Chapter 56: Surah Waqia
If you recite this Surah regularly, your sustenance will increase, you will not face poverty, people will love you, and you’ll not be grieved. Death pangs will be easy and your sins forgiven.

Chapter 57: Surah Al Hadid
Recite this Surah to make a wound heal fast. Also recite this Surah for release of prisoners.

Chapter 58: Surah Mujadilah
If you recite or tie this Surah to a sick or restless person, he will get peaceful sleep and remain calm. If you recite this Surah day and night, you will be safe from theft. If you will recite this Surah on hand and throw it on an enemy, he will be friendly towards you.

Chapter 59: Surah Hashir
To have a good memory and be intelligent, write this Surah and drink the water you soak it in.

Chapter 60: Surah Al Mumtahanah
Cure any spleen disease by drinking the water this Surah has been soaked in for three days.

Chapter 61: Surah As Saff
If recited during journey, you will be saved from thieves and other problems.

Chapter 62: Surah Al Jum’ah
One who recites this every morning and evening will be saved from shaitan’s promptings. Also you will be free from worries.

Chapter 63: Surah Munafiqun
Recited regularly, this Surah cures, boils, eye- sores, internal pains and many other sicknesses.

Chapter 64: Surah Taghabun
The reciter of this Surah will be saved from sudden accidental deaths and cruel people.

Chapter 65: Surah At Talaq
The 6th Imam says those who recite this Surah in Wajib namaz he will be protected from the Fear of Day of Judgement and will have a place in Heaven. By reciting this Surah regularly, Allah (SWT) will accept his repentance in full.

Chapter 66: Surah At Tahrim
Regularly recitation helps clear debts. Soak the Surah in water; sprinkle it over a sick person for comfort, and on an epileptic patient for cure. For good sleep, recite before going to bed.

Chapter 67: Surah Al Mulk
One who memorises this Surah will be saved from the chastisement of the grave and if you recite it for a dead person, his difficulties will immediately decrease. Also the reciter of this Surah will achieve what he seeks and be in Allah (SWT)’s protection.

Chapter 68: Surah Al Qalam
One who recites this Surah regularly will have no problems in his sustenance.
Also hung around the neck, tooth pain will subside.

Chapter 69: Surah Al Haqqah
The child of a pregnant woman would be safe if this Surah is hung around her neck.
The water from this Surah will make a child intelligent if it’s given to the child.

Chapter 70: Surah Al Ma’arij
Recite this if you wish for a certain prisoner to be released. Recited at night, you’ll be safe from shaitan’s promptings.

Chapter 71: Surah An Nuh
Recite the Surah regularly to get your wishes granted and have a house built for you in Jannah by reciting it every morning and night.

Chapter 72: Surah Al Jinn
Keep yourself safe from the witchcraft. A prisoner who recites this regularly will be released. Recitation of this Surah keeps your treasures safe and away from debts.
Keep it on you for good memory.

Chapter 73: Surah Al Muzammil
The reciter of this Surah will have a peaceful death and keep him away from bad situations. Recited in Namaz E Shab or Isha, he’ll be free from sins for the whole day.
If you recite this Surah without missing a day, you’ll see the Prophet in your dreams and whatever you’ll ask from Allah (SWT), would be granted to you. Recited on a Thursday night a hundred times, a hundred sins will be forgiven and a hundred good deeds added to his account and his wish granted.

Chapter 74: Surah Al Muddaththir
You should recite this Surah if you want to memorise the Holy Qur’an. Your memory will be excellent and you will not die until you have memorized the Qur’an. You will also have no bad luck in life.

Chapter 75: Surah Al Qiyamah
Recite this Surah regularly, you will rise from your grave with light, your livelihood will increase, you will be under Allah (SWT)’s protection, people will love you and you will be purified and become humble. Your heart will become strong when you drink the water from this Surah. Recite this Surah and act on it; it will come to you smiling with good news on the Day of Judgement.

Chapter 76/77: Surah Ad Dahr/Al Insan
You will go to Paradise if you recite it regularly, on every Thursday morning; the reward is a 100 hoors in heaven, 4000 gardens and a house near the Prophet. The water of this Surah will cure heart disease.

Chapter 78: Surah An Naba
Recite this Surah daily, you will visit the Holy Qa’aba within a year. If you recite it with the intention of staying awake, you will remain awake. Recite whilst traveling, you will have a safe journey. The water from this Surah will cure stomach ailments.

Chapter 79: Surah An Nazi’a't
Reciter of this Surah will get as much reward as ten times the stars in the sky.

Chapter 80: Surah Abasa
The reciter of this Surah will rise from his grave joyfully. The reciter of this Surah will return safely from a journey. One will enter paradise under its shade.

Chapter 81: Surah Al Takweer
All eye problems will disappear if this Surah is written and hung around the neck. Also by reciting this Surah, eyesight is improved.

Chapter 82: Surah Al Infitar
Your faults are hidden during the day of Judgement if this Surah is recited regularly.

Chapter 83: Surah Al Mutaffifin
The fire of hell will not touch you if you recite this Surah.
Recite on any of your treasures or property to safeguard them.

Chapter 84: Surah Al Inshiqaq
Make an amulet of this Surah for a pregnant lady and remove once the child is born.
It also helps in the easy delivery.

Chapter 85: Surah Al Buruj
Recite this Surah for a sound sleep. It also keeps you far from dangerous places.
To stop breast-feeding, make an amulet for the child and this will help him wean the habit.

Chapter 86: Surah Al Tariq
If you recite this Surah on the medicine before having it, it will become more effective.
The water in which you soak the Surah will heal a wound faster if you wash with it.

Chapter 87: Surah Al A’la
To relieve earaches, recite this Surah and blow on the part that is affected.
This Surah is also recommended for curing piles, neck pains and broken limbs.

Chapter 88: Surah Al Ghashiyah
Recite this Surah to calm a scared and crying child. This Surah cures toothaches.

Chapter 89: Surah Al Fajr
This is Imam Husain (AS)’s Surah. If you have difficulty conceiving, tie an amulet of this Surah around your waist and then sleep with your spouse.

Chapter 90: Surah Al Balad
The water of this Surah will relieve nose problems and an amulet will ward off diseases in a child.

Chapter 91: Surah Ash Shams
By reciting this Surah daily, it will increase your livelihood and people will always be in agreement with you. Your heart will be strong and you will have good memory.

Chapter 92: Surah Wal Layl
Recite this Surah 15 times before sleeping and see only good dreams. And if you recite this Surah in the ear of a person who is unconscious or suffering form epilepsy, he will be cured.

Chapter 93: Surah Wad Duha
Write this Surah over the name of a person who has disappeared, he will come back.
If you have forgotten anything, recite this Surah and the thing will remain in Allah (SWT)’s protection.

Chapter 94: Surah Al Inshirah
Cure chest pains by reciting this Surah and wear an amulet for palpitations. If a person whose urine has stopped, write this Surah, soak it in water and then drink it, it will cure the ailment,.

Chapter 95: Surah Wat Teen
Poison will not affect the person who recites on his food

Chapter 96: Surah Al Alaq
Recite this Surah for safe travel, from drowning, safekeeping treasures. Recite this Surah in the day or at night and if you die in the course of it, you will die a martyr’s death.

Chapter 97: Surah Al Qadr
i) Recite 10 times in one sitting, 1000 sins are forgiven.

ii) Recite 15 times after Isha prayers, you’ll be safe until the next night.

iii) Recite this Surah in wajib namaz, all your sins will be forgiven.

iv) Recite this Surah once in Ramadhan and get the reward of fasting for the whole month.

v) Recite this Surah in front of your employer, your work will be done.

vi) Recited 7 times on a mu’mins grave, his sins are forgiven.

Chapter 98: Surah Al Bayyinah
Hang around the neck for cure of jaundice/white spots on body. Soak the Surah in water, drink and pregnancy stays safe and body swellings disappear. Recite it on food there will be no effect of poison.

Chapter 99: Surah Az Zilzaal
Recite this Surah to keep you safe from earthquakes and accidental deaths and you will die peaceful and enter heaven. Whoever has been afflicted with facial paralysis should look at this Surah to get cured.

Chapter 100: Surah Al A’adiyat
Regular recitation of this Surah will be rewarded equally to the whole Qur’an. Your debts will be paid and you will be free from fears. If you are in pain, write this Surah in a new utensil and soak it with rainwater, then add a pinch of Sugar. Drink this water for the pain to subside.

Chapter 101: Surah Al Qariah
This Surah will increase your livelihood when you recite it regularly. Keep it with you; the door of sustenance will open for you.

Chapter 102: Surah At Takathur
If you recite this Surah when it rains, your sins will be forgiven. Before sleeping, you will be safe from the squeezing of the grave. If you recite in wajib namaaz, you will get the reward of 100 martyrs and in Nafila Namaaz the reward of 50 martyrs. Recite this Surah for headache and it will get cured.

Chapter 103: Surah Al ASR.
If you recite this Surah on a regular basis, you will have a peaceful death. Also, recite this Surah to cure fever.

Chapter 104: Surah Al Humazah
An amulet of this Surah worn around your neck will save you from evil eyes.
For eye pain, recite this Surah and you will be cured.

Chapter 105: Surah Al Feel
Troubles will fly away when this Surah is recited over a worried person.

Chapter 106: Surah Al Quraish
The reciter of this Surah will get the thawaab of a tawaf of Khana e Q’aaba and itteqaf. Doors of sustenance will be open. If you recite this Surah over a heart patient, he will be cured. You recite it on food and it will not harm you.

Chapter 107: Surah Al Ma’un
Recite this Surah after Isha prayers and you will be under Allah (SWT)’s protection. If you recite this Surah 41 times with 10 salawaats in the beginning and end, you and your children will never be dependant on any body. If you recite this Surah 100 times you will be under Allah (SWT)’s protection till next morning.

Chapter 108: Surah Al Kauthar
If you recite this Surah on a Thursday night, you will see the Prophet (SAW) in your dreams. Whoever recites this in his wajib and Nafila prayers will get to drink the water of Kauther.

Chapter 109: Surah Al Kafiroon
If this Surah is recited 100 times before the rising of the sun on a Friday Morning, your wishes will be granted. If you recite this Surah, you will get the reward of reciting quarter of the Holy Qur’an. Whenever you travel to accomplish a mission, recite these five suwar: Surah Al Kafiroon; An Nasr;At Tawheed;Al Falaq and An Naas after which you recite "deeni Islam."

Chapter 110: Surah An Nasr
The reciter of this Surah will get the reward of being with the Prophet on the day he conquered Mecca.

Chapter 111: Surah Al Lahab
The reciter of this Surah should curse Abu Lahab. Reciting this Surah regularly, helps in the cure of stomach ails. For a peaceful sleep, recite before going to bed.

Chapter 112: Surah Al Ikhlaas
The reciter of this Surah gets the reward of a quarter of the Holy Qur’an. Recite 12 times, there will be palaces, 100 times 25 years sins are forgiven, but on the grounds he has not killed and not usurped someone’s rights. Recite 1000 times, death will not come until the palace is built in Jannah. Before entering home, recite once and sustenance is increased. Recite 10 times for a safe journey. In Namaz E Shab, this Surah ,if recited 30 times in both rakaat all your sins are forgiven. Recite 11 times in the graveyard to gift the buried ones.

Chapter 114: Surah An Naas
Recitation of this Surah every night keeps the false doubts, evil, jinn’s are kept away. An amulet for a child keeps evil away. Whenever this Surah is recited where there is pain, it will vanish.

Surah Al Fatihah
i) If you recite on a dead body 70 times, it should be no wonder Allah (SWT) restores him to life.

ii) Pain subsides if the Surah is recited on any body pain.

iii) If this Surah does not give relief form pain, nothing else can.

iv) Imam Jafar As Sadiq (AS) said: "AL – HAMD" whose beginning is Praise, middle is Purification and the end is Supplication."

v) Anyone who listens to some one reciting the Surah, he will receive the equal reward.

Quran is a book which guides human beings in several dimensions of life and nobody can deny its several special characteristics and everybody may use it according to his capacity, here we want to talk about different viewpoints of non-Muslim scholars about Quran which show that the divine trainings of this book will soon spread through the world. Of course it should be mentioned that every scholar has looked at Quran from his own point of view and has not been able to discover all characteristics and deepness of its trainings.

1) Albert Einstein (1979-1955): Quran is not a book of algebra or geometry but is a collection of rules which guides human beings to the right way, the way which the greatest philosophers are unable to decline it.
2) Will Dorant (born in 1885): Religious treatments in Quran contain worldly treatment too and all of its affairs are sent from Allah by revelation. Quran contains rules such as: good manners, healthiness, marriage, divorce, treatments with children and animals and slaves, commercials, politics, unlawful profit, debt, contracts, recommendations, industrial affairs, wealth, amercements and punishments and war and peace. Quran creates simple beliefs in simple souls, which are free from bad traditions and worship of idols. Quran has established principles of union discipline and social unity between Muslims.

3) Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1721): Quran takes the responsibility of man prosperity alone. I hope it will not be too late that time which I can unite all the scholars of all the countries together and establish a monotone society based on principles of Quran only which will guide people to prosperity.
4) Gandhi (1869-1948): By learning Quran, every body will achieve revelation secrets and religion knowledge. In Quran we don't see anything which allows using obligation to change others religion. This sacred book says in the simplest way: 'there is no obligation in religion.'
5) Dr. Johan Wolfgang Von Goethe (German Poet): In 1832 said, for long years, priests prevented us understanding Quran realities and greatness of its bringer, but by improvement of sciences this book will take human attention to it and become axis of thoughts.
6) Lion Tolstue (Russian philosopher): Quran contains clear realties and tenets and human beings can utilize it generally.
7) Bernard Shaw (English philosopher): He foretells that Europe will accept religion and book of Muhammad (PBUH).
8) DR. Marks (1818-1883): Quran contains all divine messages, which exist in all sacred books for all nations. There are verses in Quran that relates to learning science and thinking and discussing and training and I confess that this firm book has corrected many of the man mistakes.
9) Dr Shebly Shommyel (1853-1917) (Special student of Darwin): Prophet of Islam took attentions of human being wisdom towards him by Quran eloquence and made them unconscious against his book.

10) Charles Francis (American professor): Bible is a book which no one knows in America but Quran is a book which every Muslim knows and it is not a lie. But it should be mentioned that being unaware of bible is a good luck for religion.
11) P.H Corbin (France contemporary Islam knower): If Muhammad thought was superstitious and Quran was not revelation, he never dared to invite man to science. No thought and no person have invited human beings to science as Muhammad did. As we see that it has talked about science 950 times.

Of course, the quotations mentioned above are very little, we would prefer no to refer to all of them and suggest the researches to research references for more information.

Belief of Shia in the Completeness of Quran:

A Wahhabi contributor mentioned that Shia believe Quran is not complete.
My answer to this matter is:

     "Glory to (Allah), this is a big slander! (Quran 24:16)."

Shia do NOT believe that Quran is missing something. There are few weak
traditions which * might * imply to the contrary. Such reports are rejected
and unacceptable if they want to imply such a thing.

It is interesting to point out that there are numerous traditions reported
in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim which allege that many verses of Quran
are missing. Not only that, but also they these Sunni reports allege that
two chapters from the Quran are missing one of them was similar to chapter
9 (al-Bara'ah) in length!!! Some Sunni traditions even claim that the
Chapter al-Ahzab (Ch. 33) was as lengthy as the Chapter of Cow (Ch. 2)!!!
The Chapter of Cow is the biggest Chapter of the present Quran. The
traditions inside Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim even present some of the
missing verses. (Some of these traditions will be mentioned in the
following articles with full references.). Yet, fortunately Shia never
accuse the Sunni brothers and sisters of believing that the Quran is
incomplete. We say that either these Sunni reports are either weak or
fabricated.

The completeness of Quran is so indisputable among Shia that the greatest
scholar of Shia in Hadith, Abu Jafar Muhammad Ibn Ali Ibn al-Husain Ibn
Babwayh, known as "Shaykh Saduq" (309/919-381/991), wrote:

     "Our belief is that the Quran which Allah revealed to His Prophet
     Muhammad is (the same as) the one between the two covers (daffatayn).
     And it is the one which is in the hands of the people, and is not
     greater in extent than that. The number of surahs as generally
     accepted is one hundred and fourteen ...And he who asserts that we say
     that it is greater in extent than that, is a liar."

It should be noted that Shaykh Saduq (RA) is the greatest scholar of Hadith
among the Imami Shia and was given the name of Shaykh al-Muhaddithin (i.e.,
the most eminent of the scholars of Hadith). And since he wrote the above
in a book with the name of "The beliefs of the Imami Shia," it is quite
impossible that there could be any authentic Hadith in contrary to it.
It is noteworthy that Shaykh Saduq lived at the time of minor occultation
of Imam Mahdi (AS) and he was one of the earliest Shia scholars. He had the
honor that he was born with the prayer of Imam Mahdi (AS).

Another prominent Shia scholar is Allama Muhammad Ridha Mudhaffar who wrote
in his Shia Creed book that:

     "We believe that the Holy Quran is revealed by Allah through the Holy
     Prophet of Islam dealing with every thing which is necessary for the
     guidance of mankind. It is an everlasting miracle of the Holy Prophet
     the like of which can not be produced by human mind. It excels in its
     eloquence, clarity, truth and knowledge. This Divine Book has not been
     tampered with by any one. This Holy Book which we recite today is the
     same Holy Quran which was revealed to the Holy Prophet. Any one who
     ^^^^                                                    ^^^^^^^^^^^
     claims it to be otherwise is an evil-doer, a mere sophist, or else he
     ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
     is sadly mistaken. All of those who have this line of thinking have
     ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
     gone astray as Allah in Quran said: "Falsehood can not reach the Quran
     from any direction (41:42)"

Sayyid al-Murtadha, another prominent Shi'ite Scholar said:

     "... our certainty of the completeness of the Quran is like our
     certainty of the existence of countries or major events that are self
     evident. Motives and reasons for recording and guarding the Holy Quran
     are numerous. Because the Quran is a miracle of the Prophethood and
     the source of Islamic Knowledge and religious rule, their concern with
     the Quran made the Muslim Scholars highly efficient concerning
     grammar, its reading, and its verses."

With this various concern by the most eminent Shia scholars, there is
no possibility that the Quran was added or deleted in some parts.

Besides what Allah mentioned in Quran about its protection, we can use our
logic to derive the same result. Allah sent his last Messenger to show
people (to the end of the time) His Right Path. Therefore if Allah does not
preserve His message, He would be contradicting His own aim. Obviously,
such negligence is evil according to reason. Thus, in essence, Allah
preserves His message as He preserved Moses in the house of His Enemy,
Pharaoh.

The Term "Shia" in Quran and Hadith

The Term "Shia" in Quran and Hadith:

The word "Shia" means "followers; members of party". As such, the term "Shia" alone has no negative or positive meaning unless we specify the leader of the party. If one is a Shia (follower) of the most righteous servants, then there is nothing wrong with being Shia, specially if the leader of such party has been assigned by Allah. On the other hand, if one becomes the Shia a tyrant or a wrong-doer, he shall meet with the fate of his leader. In fact, Quran indicates that on the day of Judgment people will come in groups, and each group has its leader in front of it. Allah, to whom belong Might and Majesty, said:

    One day We shall call every group of people by their respective Imams. (Quran 17:71)

In the day of judgment, the destiny of the "followers" of each group highly depends on the destiny of his Imam (provided that they really followed that Imam). Allah mentioned in Quran that there are two types of Imams. Some Imams are those who invite people to Hell fire. They are tyrannical leaders of each era (like Pharaoh, etc.):

    And We made them (but) Imams inviting to the Fire; and on the Day of Judgment no help shall they find. In this world We continued to curse them; and on the Day of Judgment they will be among the hateful. (Quran 28:41-42).

Certainly, being the members of the parties of such Satanic Imams has been severely denounced in Quran, and the followers of such parties will meet the fate of their leaders. However, Quran also reminds that there are Imams who are appointed by Allah as Guides for the mankind:

    "And We ASSIGNED from among them some Imams who GUIDE by Our authority since they were patient and believed firmly in Our Signs." (Quran 32:24)

Certainly, the true followers (Shia) of these Imams will be the real prosperous on the day of resurrection. Thus being a Shia does not mean anything, unless we know the Shia of whom. Allah mentioned in Quran that Some of His righteous servants were Shia of His other righteous servants. An example was Prophet Abraham who was mentioned in Quran specifically as the Shia of Noah:

    "And most surely Abraham was among the Shia of him (i.e., Noah)" (Quran 37:83)
(Notice that the word "Shia" is explicitly used, letter by letter, in the above verse as well as the following verse.) In another verse, Quran talks about the Shia of Moses versus the enemies of Moses:

    "And he (Moses) went into the city at a time when people (of the city) were not watching, so he found therein two men fighting, one being of his Shia and the other being his enemy, and the one who was of his Shia cried out to him for help against the one who was of his enemy" (Quran 28:15)
In the above verse of Quran, one is named the Shia of Moses (AS) and the other one is named the enemy of Moses, and the people at that time were either the Shia or the enemy of Moses (AS). Thus Shia is an official word used by Allah in His Quran for His high rank prophets as well as their followers. Do you want to say Prophet Abraham was sectarian? How about Prophet Noah and Prophet Moses?

If somebody calls himself a Shia, it is not due to any sectarianism, nor any innovation. It is because Quran has used the phrase for some of His best servants. The above verses that I mentioned in support of Shia, has used this term singular form (i.e., one group of followers). This means that it has special meaning, such as: THE Shia of Noah (AS), THE Shia of Moses (AS). Also in the History of Islam, Shia has been specially used for the "followers of Ali". The first individual who used this term was the Messenger of Allah himself:

    The Messenger of Allah said to Ali: "Glad tiding O Ali! Verily you and your companions and your Shia (followers) will be in Paradise."

Thus the Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HF) used to say the phrase of "Shia of Ali". This phrase is not something invented later! Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HF) said that the TRUE followers of imam Ali will go to Paradise, and this is a great felicity. Also Jabir Ibn Abdillah al-Ansari narrated that:

    The Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HF) said: "The Shia of Ali are the real victorious in the day of resurrection/rising"

The "day of rising" may also refer to the day of rising of al-Mahdi (AS). But in more general term, it means the day of judgment. Also it is narrated that:

    The Messenger of Allah said: "O Ali! On the Day of Judgment I shall resort to Allah and you will resort to me and your children will resort to you and the Shia will resort to them. Then you will see where they carry us. (i.e. to Paradise)"

Furthermore, it is narrated that:

    The Messenger of Allah said: "O Ali! (On the day of Judgment) you and your Shia will come toward Allah well-pleased and well-pleasing, and there will come to Him your enemies angry and stiff-necked (i.e., their head forced up).

A more complete version of the tradition which has also been reported by the Sunnis, is as follows:

    Ibn Abbas (RA) narrated: When the verse "Those who believe and do righteous deeds are the best of the creation (Quran 98:7)" was revealed, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH&HF) said to Ali: "They are you and your Shia." He continued: "O Ali! (On the day of Judgment) you and your Shia will come toward Allah well-pleased and well-pleasing, and your enemies will come angry with their head forced up. Ali said: "Who are my enemies?" The Prophet (PBUH&HF) replied: "He who disassociates himself from you and curses you. And glad tiding to those who reach first under the shadow of al-'Arsh on the day of resurrection." Ali asked: "Who are they, O the Messenger of Allah?" He replied: "Your Shia, O Ali, and those who love you."

Then Ibn Hajar provides a bizarre commentary for the first tradition, saying:

    The Shia of Ali are the Ahlussunnah since they are those who love Ahlul-Bayt as Allah and His Prophet ordered. But others (i.e., other than Sunnis) are the enemies of Ahlul-Bayt in reality for the love outside the boundary of law is the great enmity, and that was the reason for their fate. Also, the enemies of Ahlul-Bayt were al-Khawarij and their alike from Syria, not Muawiyah and other companions because they were Muteawweloon, and for them is a good reward, and for Ali and his Shia is a good reward!

And this is how Sunni scholars cope with the prophetic traditions in favor of "Shia of Ali"! They say that they are the real Shia!

Let us look at one more tradition in this regard:

    The Messenger of Allah said to Ali: "The first four individuals who will enter the Paradise are me, you, al-Hasan, and al-Husain, and our progeny will be behind us, and our wives will be behind our progeny, and our Shia will be on our right side and in our company."

From the above pieces of evidence, the word "Shia" is used by Allah in Quran for His prophets as well as their followers. Further, His blessed Prophet, Muhammad (PBUH&HF) has repeatedly used this word for the followers of Imam Ali (AS). The word Shia is used here in its special meaning, and moreover, it is not in plural form (Parties), rather the above verses and traditions are referring to a special party, i.e., one single party. If Shia meant sectarian, neither Allah would use it for His high rank prophets nor Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HF) would have praised them.

However there are some verses in Quran which uses the plural form of Shia that is "Shi-ya'a" which means "Parties/groups". This is a general meaning of this term, and not the special meaning in singular form which has been given in previous examples. Of course, only one single party is accepted by Allah and the rest are severely denounced because they have separated from that unique party. So it is clear why Allah denounced "Groups/Parties/sects" (plural form) who separated from that unique group in some verses of Quran. There can't be two righteous groups (with conflicting ideas) at the same time, because between the two leaders one is surely better and more qualified, and thus the claims and the motives of the other leader goes under question.

However I did not locate the exact term of "Ahlussunnah wal-Jama'ah", nor did I find "al-Wahhabiyyah", "al-Salafiyyah" anywhere in the Holy Quran or the traditions of the Prophet. I agree that we should follow the Sunnah of Prophet, but I would like to discover the origin of the exact term here. We Shia are proud to follow the Sunnah of Prophet. However, the question is that which Sunnah is genuine and which one is not. The word "Sunnah" by itself does not serve the purpose of knowledge. All Muslims irrespective to their persuasions claim that they follow the Sunnah of Prophet (PBUH&HF). Please refer to the article titled "Quran and Ahlul-Bayt" for a detailed discussion in this regard.

It should be emphasized that the Messenger of Allah never wished to divide Muslims into groups. Prophet ORDERED all people to follow Imam Ali (AS) as his agent during his life time, and as his Caliph after him. Prophet wished everybody does that. But unfortunately those who heeded him were few and were known as "Shia of Ali" who were subject to all sort of discrimination and prosecution, and suffered from day one of the demise of the Mercy to Mankind, Muhammad (PBUH&HF). If every one (or say the majority Muslims) had obeyed what prophet wished, then there wouldn't exist any group or school within Islam. Allah said in Quran:

    "Hold fast to the Rope of Allah, all of you together and do not separate" (Quran 3:103)"

The Rope of Allah which we should not separate from, are the Ahlul-Bayt. In fact, some Sunni scholars narrated from Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (AS) saying:

    "We are the Rope of Allah about whom Allah has said: 'Hold fast to the Rope of Allah, all of you together and do not diverge (3:103)'"

Thus, if Allah denounces the sectarianism, He denounces those who separated from His Rope, and not those who hold fast to it! Also some said the Rope of Allah is Quran. This is also true. But by looking at the following tradition narrated by Umm Salama who said:

    The Messenger of Allah said: "Ali is with Quran, and Quran is with Ali. They shall not separate from each other till they both return to me by the Pool (of Paradise)."

Then we can conclude that Imam Ali is * the Quran verbatim *. That is, Imam Ali is the Strong Rope of Allah also, because they (Quran and Ali) are non-separable. In fact, there are a huge number of traditions in authentic Sunni sources where Prophet said Quran and Ahlul-Bayt are inseparable and if Muslims want to remain in the right path, they should stick to BOTH of them. (Please refer to the article titled: Quran and Ahlul-Bayt). Therefore, one can conclude that those who separated from Ahlul-Bayt are the sectarian who divided into sects and were denounced by Allah and His prophet due to their divergence.

In fact, the opinion of majority is not a good criteria to distinguish the false from the truth. If you look at the Quran, you will see that Quran severely denounces the majority of by frequently saying that "the majority do not understand", "the majority do not use their logic", "the majority follow their whims"...

In another verse, Allah said:

    "You are the best nation (Ummah) that has been raised up for the (benefit of) people. You enjoin the good and forbid the evil..." (Quran 3:110).

The best nation is also the Ahlul-Bayt. Let us remember that according to Quran, "nation" does not mean the whole people. This is even clear from the above verse that such Ummah (nation) are raised FOR benefiting the people. Thus Ummah can be only a subset of people and not the whole people. In fact one person can be a nation. Sometimes the act of a single person is worthier than the deeds of the whole nation. This was the case for Prophet Muhammad, Imam Ali, as well as the case for Prophet Abraham, peace be upon them all. Quran states that Abraham (AS) was a nation (Ummah), meaning that his deeds was more valuable than all other people. Allah stated:

    "Lo! Abraham was a nation (Ummah) who was obedient to Allah, by nature upright, and he was not of the idolaters" (Quran 16:120)

Thus, one single individual can be a nation in the language of Quran. As for the Verse 3:100, it is interesting to note that some Sunni scholars have narrated from Abu Ja'far (Imam Baqir (AS)) that:

    Abu Ja'far (AS) said about the verse 'You are the best nation raised up for the (benefit of) people...(3:110)': "The Members of the House of the Prophet."

Also Allah mentioned in Quran:

    "O' you who believe! Fear Allah and be with the truthful"
    (Quran 9:119)

According to some Sunni Commentaries, "the truthful" means Imam Ali (AS):

Sunni reference:

    * Tafsir al-Durr al-Manthoor, by al-Hafidh Jalaluddin al-Suyuti, two reports: one from Ibn Mardawayh by Ibn Abbas and the second from Ibn Asakir by Abi Ja'far (AS).

This means that people should have feared Allah and should not have separated from Imam Ali (AS) after the demise of Prophet (PBUH&HF). This unfortunately did not happen at large, and therefore, unfortunate divisions followed it.

With respect to the world al-Siddeeq -- "The Truthful", there are many Sunni narrations in which the Messenger of Allah said:

    The Truthful are three: Hazqeel (who was) the believer of the family of Pharaoh (see Quran 40:28), and Habeeb al-Najjar (who was) the believer of the family of Yaasin (see Quran 36:20), and Ali Ibn Abi Talib who is the most virtuous one among them (see Quran 9:119)."

In conclusion, we have shown in this article that the term Shia has been used in Quran for the followers of the great servants of Allah, and in the traditions of the Prophet for the followers of Imam Ali (AS). One who follows such divinely appointed Guide is safe from the disputes in the religion and has grasped the Strong Rope of Allah, and has been given the glad tiding of Paradise.

Side Comments

A Sunni brother wrote: Sunni means the one who follows the traditions (Sunnah) of the Prophet, and this is supported by the following verse of Quran:

    Certainly you have in the Apostle of Allah an excellent exemplar (beautiful pattern of conduct) for him who hopes in Allah and the latter day and remembers Allah much. (Quran 33:21)
My comment was as follows:

1)
    In the above verse neither the word "Sunnah" nor any of its derivative has been used. As I mentioned earlier, Allah has used the terminology of "Muslim" in its exact form, letter by letter, in the verse 22:78. Also Allah used the word "Shia" again in exact form in verse 37:83 for the Prophet Abraham. However, Allah never used the words such as "Sunni" or as "Ahlussunnah" for the followers of the Prophet (PBUH&HF).

2)
    If you say we do not find such exact terminology, but we understand that the Prophet is our pattern, then one may say that Quran testifies that Prophet Abraham (AS) was a pattern for us as well:

        "Indeed, there is for you an excellent exemplar (beautiful pattern of conduct) in Abraham..." (Quran 60:4)
Notice that in the above verse, the phrase which has been used for Prophet Abraham (AS) is exactly the same as that of the previous quoted verse used for Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HF). That is true for the following verse as well:

    Certainly there is for you in them (Abraham and his followers) an excellent exemplar (beautiful pattern of conduct) for him who fears Allah and the last day; and whoever turns back, then surely Allah is the Self-sufficient, the Praised. (Quran 60:6)
    Now please tell us if we can be called a Sunni because we follow Abraham's traditions? Certainly Prophet Muhammad followed the tradition of Prophet Abraham, yet Muhammad (PBUH&HF) was never called Sunni, as that result. Similarly, Prophet Abraham followed the traditions of Prophet Noah, but he was never called a Sunni. Quran mentioned that he was a Shia of Noah.

    The word "Sunnah" has used in Quran to refer to the custom of God and the way Allah conducts the affairs and the rules governing the universe (Sunnatullah). But here we are discussing the word Sunnah referred to the Prophet (PBUH&HF), and not the rules governing the universe. As such we are looking for the term such as "Sunnatu Rasoolillah".

    A word XXXX can be used in two ways:

        XXXXX by definition

    or

        XXXXX by label

    All Muslims are Sunni by definition, but only a group of people, which are famous to this name, are Sunni by label. How they got such label needs to be investigated though.

    Also, all Muslims are "obedient" by definition, but there is no special group among Muslims who are called "obedient". This shows that having a certain characteristic by definition does not force us to specify such characteristic in our label. In fact, in most cases (not all cases) the label is just a stereotype and does not reflect the real attributes of the holder of such label. Sometime the label is used to allure people to specific version of something which is found in various versions, each of which is claimed to be genuine one, by different groups. As such, it wouldn't be an intelligent practice, in general, to identify the genuineness of something with its label.

    Surely, the followers of the Prophet are supposed to follow his Sunnah by definition. But were they called Sunni when Prophet Muhammad was alive? or even few years after his demise? In other words, the question to be answered is: When did the title "Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah" come into existence in the history of Islam for a specific group of Muslims?

and knowledge flow fom it.

that several lamps will be lighted from it.
It is a lofty beacon
illuminating the path of Allah.
It is such a set of principles and beliefs
that will satisfy every seeker of truth and reality.

Know you all!

that Allah has made Islam the most sublime path
for attainment of His supreme pleasure
and the highest standard of His obedience.
He has favoured it with noble precepts
exalted principles
undeniable wisdom
undoubtable arguments
and unchallengable supremacy.
It is upto you to maintain the eminence
and dignity granted to it by the Lord,
to follow it sincerly,
to do justice to its articles of faith and belief,
to obey implicitly its tenets and orders
and to give it the proper place in your lives."
